MAGWAY DIVISION – According to people close to the local defense forces, the battle to seize the Yay Myet Ni police outpost next to the Palae – Gangaw road in Htee Lin Township, Gangaw district is still fierce for 2 days.
The joint defense forces attacked the police station in the east of Yay Myet Ni village at 3 a.m. on December 4th, and the fighting continued until today.
A person close to the Defense Forces said that “We asked them to surrender, but they didn’t surrender, so the fighting continued. There are casualties from both side. If junta’s air support had not come, we would have been able to capture the camp since yesterday.”
He also said that during the battle to capture the camp, the junta council airplane fired at least 3 times between 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. around the camp.
In addition, some reinforcements from the battalion at No. 23 Defense Equipment Factory of the Junta Council Army, based in Kyaw town, left for the battle at Yay Myet Ni Police Station on December 5 morning, according to local sources.
It is also said that the residents of Yay Myet Ni village were able to avoid the fighting before the battle, so there were no casualties on civilians.
On the side of the media close to the military, it is reported that the fighting is fierce at the Yay Myet Ni police station, and that there are around 20 deaths on both sides.
