MYANMAR – Acting President Duwa La Shila said that the actions of the president, prime minister, government and the population of East Timor who took a stand for Myanmar, facing the decline of democracy and human rights, to get back on the path of democracy and human rights, as a good friend would, shall always be remembered.
The Acting President said this at the August 29 cabinet meeting.
“The junta council has been made to resort to senseless responses to their losses in all categories. The act of expelling the diplomat and family of East Timor is an embarrassing and indecent act of the junta council in front of the international community. We would like to specially convey our apologies to the East Timor Diplomat and family who were expelled by the junta regime,” said Mr. Duwa La Shila, commending East Timor’s stance on democracy and human rights standards.
“We must prove that our Spring Revolution is a revolution holding faith in democracy and human rights standards,” continues the Acting President.
He continued that as the Spring Revolution gains momentum, the role of international community has also become important. “It has especially become clear that the United States imposing sanctions on the finance and oil sectors of the junta council has backed the junta council into a corner.”
The Acting President also said that even though the international sanctions could also have an effect on the economy and daily lives of the people, it is an unavoidable obstacle of the revolution to overcome when compared to the daily oppressions committed by the junta regime on the people.
