CHIN STATE – The relationship between Chin National Front (CNF/CNA) and Chin Brotherhood, formed by six Chin defence forces, is still strained over military activities in Chin State.
There were previously several skirmishes between the Maraland Territorial Council (MTC/MDF), a member of Chin Brotherhood, and the CNF led CNA/CDF joint forces.
Chin Brotherhood, consisting of MTC/MDF, Zomi Federal Union (ZFU/PDF-Zoland), Chin National Organisation (CNO/CNDF), Chin National Council (CNC/CDF-Mindat), CDF-Kanpetlet and CDF-Matupi Brigade 1, who has formed an alliance with the Arakan Army (AA) published its opinions on the military activities by CNF on May 1.
The statement mentioned that CNF led troops are conducting military activities while taking advantage of the fact that Chin Brotherhood is working with allies to carry out clearance operations after capturing Kyindwe and accused CNF of disrupting the strategic plans of PDF-Zoland and CNDF in the territories under control of Chin Brotherhood.
Chin Brotherhood said that such activities could inflate the regional conflicts and would lead to mutual destruction. The spokesperson for CNF has yet to respond to the statement.
Members of the Chin Brotherhood are against the Chin State government formed by CNF led Chinland Council.
Although there were contacts to discuss the issue, no dialogue came out of it but only statements indicating rising tension between the two sides were released by Chin Brotherhood.
Chin Brotherhood also mentioned in its latest statement that its members will have to retaliate against any future military activities despite repeated warnings to avoid conflicts between the Chin forces.
