MYANMAR – Protest Activist, Dr. Tayzar San requested the people to take part in the flower strike to honour the 78th birthday of State Counsellor Aung San Suu Kyi.
The flower strike means to honour the 78th birthday of the State Counsellor, who is currently in unjust detainment at the Nay Pyi Taw Prison, on June 19.
Dr. Tayzar San requested for nationwide participation in the flower strike to honour Ms. Aung San Suu Kyi alongside more than 10,000 civilian political detainees unjustly detained by the junta regime as well as the revolutionary women and all people who have been at the forefront of all revolution.
“The intention of flower strike is to show the power crazed military dictators, who have been brutally terrorising the civilians by arbitrarily abducting, torturing and murdering the people and torching houses and villages to scare the people into subservience, that we are not afraid, that the revolutionary blood still courses in our veins, that we will rise up against all oppressions. We want to show the blooming revolutionary flowers to make it clear that our people are like hyacinths that hold their head high through gritted teeth and remain strong,” said the activist.
He continued that there is no rules and regulations for the strike and that the people can take part in the flower strike in any activities related to flowers such as changing the flower offerings at the Buddha statue, wearing flowers in the hair or picking flowers, only asking the participants to keep their safety in mind when taking part in the strike both online and offline.
Dr. Tayzar San continues to take on an active role in garnering and providing supplies to the revolution and remains a protest activist.
