CHIN STATE- As the civil war is going on in the upper part of Palatwa Town, the residents are still fleeing to safety, and some of their homes have reportedly been robbed; some valuables and pets have gone missing.
Since November, clashes between the Rakhine/Arakan Army (AA) and the military council have broken out in the upper part of Palatwa town, forcing residents to flee.
When some people from about 6 villages returned home, some of their houses were robbed and jewelry, food, pets, and clothes were reported missing.A resident of Palatwa said, “All the villagers fled the war and left it in the village. We had to run away with only one piece of clothing. I had to leave behind all my jewelry and valuables (locked in the house). I think we only have to flee the war for three or four days. But, more than 40 days have passed, and valuable items left behind were stolen after the house-breaking.
The Arakan Army (AA) and the military council in Palatwa are frequently fighting, and the residents reported that Palatwa’s Infantry Batallion-289 and the Arakan Army are exchanging heavy weapons with each other every day.
