BAGO DIVISION (West)- It was reported by the revolutionary forces and residents that the manager of Inn Ngakwa Sugar Mill under junta’s Myanmar Economic Corporation (MEC) in Pauk Khaung Township, Pyay District, was shot and killed.
On September 7, at around 1:00 p.m., the retired Junta Captain Than Win and his follower Mr.Khin Maung Aye were on a motorcycle, on the embankment near the sugar mill, when two armed youths opened fire at them.
“The main reason for eliminating him is that he has been encouraging the locals around the sugar mill to join the Pyu militia group. And also been threatening the locals to keep a guest list or be jailed or pay bribes, along with the ward administrators. Locals have been filing complaints about his tortures and abuses for a long time. Only by now, it is settled,” stated a member of the People’s Defense Force of Pyay District.
Captain Than Win is a retired officer from the army, who had shares at the MEC and took the position of general agricultural manager. He used to buy sugarcanes from farmers at a discounted price in peak season, and always paid the bills a month late, stated the sugarcane farmers.
The retired junta captain and his disciple were shot by two armed youths on their way back from the sugar mill. The shooters spare live of his follower Mr.Khin Maung Aye as he was not actively supporting the junta regime or the oppressions.
