TANINTHARYI DIVISION – The Kawthoolei Army (KTLA) central issued a notice to its troops, instructing them to not confiscate or destroy the items belonging to companies related to foreign investment projects when conducting battles to capture cities.
“We don’t want to damage the foreign investment that will be necessary during the rebuilding process. Moreover, there are also businesses that have paused operations as they don’t wish to work with the junta council. That’s why we don’t want to cause any unnecessary collateral damage,” said information officer Ko Chan of Sakasaw Brigade, KTLA.
However, he added that operating FDI projects with links to the junta council will face consequences if they don’t stop cooperating with the junta council.
“We will be putting a halt to businesses like casinos in Tanintharyi Division. We’d also like to tell the foreign investors to lower their direct involvements,” said the information officer.
The notice by KTLA central urges to target the pillars of the junta council and illegal businesses related to the junta council.
KTLA had set fire to buildings, machinery and work vehicles of Phoela Mine, a mining business in Heindar Village Tract of Dawei Township in October as the business is a joint venture between the junta council and Chinese investors.
Moreover, buildings, machinery and backhoes were similarly torched in June at the old Hydro power plant project in Phaungtaw Village, Dawei that the junta council chief pushed for quick completion.
