TANINTHARYI DIVISION – Terrorist junta forces committed robbery at Nyinmaw Village in Launglon Township and made off with over 50 million worth of jewellery and various items belonging to the residents.
50 junta soldiers and police that came from Launglon Police Station entered the village in five cars at around 11 p.m. on December 13 and proceeded to rob 26 houses.
The junta forces reportedly broke into an empty house beside the village monastery first. They chased the residents out of their homes and stole various items that caught their fancy, according to three residents.
One resident said that the act of the junta council forces entering the village and taking off with valuables from the houses without saying anything can only be described as robbery.
Another resident also believed that the junta forces must have planned the robbery as they only took around an hour to raid 26 houses in Nyinmaw Village.
It is said that the junta troops that entered Nyinmaw Village didn’t bother to question nor detain the villagers and only took off with valuables belonging to the people.
According to the data compiled by locals, the junta robbers took off with over 13 million Kyats in cash, nine ticals of gold, seven motorcycles, one sidecar attached motorcycle and identification cards.
Anti-junta protests are still strong in Nyinmaw Village and the village is in an area where the influence of resistance forces is strong
Previously on November 23, junta forces invaded Thapyayshaung Village also in Launglon Township, looted the valuables belonging to the people and torched 21 motorcycles and 18 tents.
Residents said that starting the end of this year, junta forces invading into Launglon Township would leave behind graffiti, threatening that worse things will come to the residents supporting the PDF or holding protests.
