SHAN-KARENNI BORDER – Clashes occurred at Khaung Ei Village in Pekhon Township, at the border of Shan-Karenni, resulting in the death of 13 junta soldiers, including a junta officer, as reported by Pekhon PDF.
On July 21, around 50 junta troops launched an offensive from Sat Taw Village to Khaung Ei Pagoda Hill while Pekhon PDF Battalion – 1002, KRU Battalion – 1009 – IPDF, 1008, 1005, 1003, DMO 1106, and Southern Shan Drone Force jointly defended against the junta offensive.
During the battle, the junta forces dug bunkers and attacked, but PDF comrades managed to destroy them. As a result, the junta soldiers retreated on July 28 at 1 a.m.
“Those from junta infantry battalion 248 couldn’t even carry back the dead bodies of other junta troops and ran away,” said a comrade of Pekhon PDF.
Currently, around 100 junta soldiers from Shan based junta battalions are said to have arrived at the junta Regional Military Operations Command 7 based in Pekhon Town as reinforcements.
