SOUTHERN SHAN STATE – Officials of the safety helmet campaign by Pekhon PDF Battalion 1006 under the National Unity Government (NUG) announced that the campaign target was exceeded by more than twice on the final day.
The “Helmets for Hope” campaign, which started on March 30, raised 90 helmets each of which cost 3,500 Thai Bahts, and ended last Sunday (April 21).
An official of Pekhon PDF Battalion 2 Support Team said, “After receiving the helmets we will keep them safe and give them to the front-line PDF soldiers, we would later release videos of them wearing the helmets in battles. If you have any questions about the purchases, you can ask via the chat box. We are very happy and proud because we have succeeded the campaign with more than two times our targets.”
Before starting the campaign, the fundraisers hoped to get 20 million kyats for 40 hats, but they raised more than 40 million kyats and were able to send 90 units to the front-line members.
There are two battalions, 1006 and 1004, in Pekhon PDF, and on March 30, battalion 1004 held its 3rd batch of military training, according to the battalion’s statement.
