KARENNI STATE – The responsible people from the organisations which are helping the internally displaced people have said that help is needed for the internally displaced people and the schools in the west of Hpruso Township, Karenni (Kayah) State.
Currently the Interim Executive Council of Karenni State (IEC) has provided some supports to those places in need but the supports are not enough and the aids have been required since three months ago.
One of the responsible people of Karenni Support Team (KNST) said, “The aids are needed for both the internally displaced people and the schools. The students are mostly from the villages and students from neighbouring villages would attend the same school. It has been over two months since they did not receive any food rations.”
IEC has provided about 50 clothes for 14 schools but as the number of students is high, each school received only about four clothes, as known from the internally displaced people.
Moreover, as the junta forces frequently deploy military actions in the region, the internally displaced people could not go back home to bring food rations so the supports are urgently in need.
One of the internally displaced people said “It has been long since the non government organisation did not come to donate. We have to solve ourselves. There are days when we don’t have rice to eat. There are also no jobs to earn money.”
There are about 30 villages, 14 schools and 500 internally displaced people who have run out of food rations, as said by the responsible people of KNST.
General Secretary 2 of IEC, Mr. Banyar Oo said in November 2023 that the internally displaced people from the west of Hpruso have been encouraged and provided assistance to grow their own crops.
