KACHIN STATE – A fighter jet of the junta council that came to bomb the battle between the Kachin Independence Army (KIA) and junta forces at Tarmakan Village in Hpakant Township was shot at and hit by KIA, according to KIA frontline sources.
Starting February 26 evening, revolutionary forces led by KIA launched offensives on junta light infantry battalion (LIB) 119 camp and the police station in Tarmakan Village. As the revolutionary forces gained the upper hand and the junta forces suffered losses, the junta council provided support with air and artillery attacks. Then on February 27 morning, when at least four junta jets came to bomb Tarmakan Village, KIA shot at them and managed to hit one of the jets.
“Out of the four fighter jets that came to bomb, one was hit. Smoke came out (of the plane) and it flew away. The frontline sources reported the hit,” said a KIA source.
Colonel Naw Bu, the KIA spokesperson could not be reached for comments regarding the news and KIA has yet to release any official statement.
Meanwhile, the terrorist junta council is said to be bombing and shelling Tarmakan Village and the surroundings nonstop starting February 27 morning.
It was also reported that the KIA led revolutionary forces have successfully captured the Tarmakan Police Station.
