KARENNI STATE – It has been reported that there was a serious clash between the junta council and forces from Pharsaung Township (Kyaukpanyo village) in the eastern part of Thanlywin river to Kyauksu village, Maesae Township on July 26. The situation resulted in significant hostilities, but the exact details and extent of the clash have not been independently confirmed.
According to sources, the junta used reinforcements with jet fighters and blasting bombs due to the heavy losses they faced on their side. However, the full extent and outcome of the confrontation couldn’t be verified.
The junta has been trying to invade Maesae Township since July 21, employing three columns including heavy weapons and conducting airstrikes. The Pharsaung PDF, Bawlakhae PDF, Karenni National People’s Liberation Front, KNDF battalion 20, and Karenni Revolutionary United Force (KRU) defended against the junta’s columns, and unfortunately, a 22-year-old comrade, Saw Novel (also known as Arnoe), fell on July 22.
It was in the second week of June when the Karenni United force occupied Maesae Township. However, the junta made efforts to reoccupy the area and invaded from Ywarthit Township and Pharsaung Township with significant forces since the third week of June.
