BANGLADESH – The Bangladesh Foreign Minister Hasan Mahmud said that they are discussing to return 177 junta council members to Myanmar who have fled to Bangladesh.
He said that some civilians tried to enter Bangladesh after the junta council troops ran into Bangladesh. However, Bangladesh officials did not accept their entry and deported them back.
“A total of 177 Myanmar army border guards entered Bangladesh. We are arranging to send them back as before. We have deported other civilians as well who tried to enter Bangladesh,” said Bangladesh’s Foreign Minister Hasan Mahmud.
At present, Bangladesh officials are discussing with the Myanmar Army to repatriate the military council soldiers back to Myanmar. If necessary, the Myanmar ambassador to Bangladesh will be summoned.
In February, more than 300 military council soldiers fled into Bangladesh and they were being sent back on February 15. However, more junta council members fled into Bangladesh again.
