MANDALAY DIVISION – Residents reported that when the leader of the Military Council arrived in Mandalay to attend the holy cremation ceremony of Ba Maw Monk, which will be held June 5th evening, the Sagaing side was deployed and blocked by security.
Mandalay and Sagaing are separated by the Irrawaddy River. It is said that the junta’s army has been deployed in the Mingun area.
Mingun locals said that troops were stationed on the side of Sheinmakar, including villages such as Kangyigong, Kyaukpanan, and Ywa Thit villages on the western side of the Minwun mountain range.
During these days, the Junta’s council troops have tightened security in Mandalay and are also conducting guest list checks.
At 3 o’clock in the evening of June 5, the body of Ba Maw Sayadaw will be cremated at a funeral pyre built on the site of the old Chan Mya Thar Si Airfield, and the ashes will be scattered in the Irrawaddy River.
