MAGWAY DIVISION – A 12-year-old child got critical injuries because of bomb shrapnels in Akyiban Village, Htilin (Tilin) Township, according to Yaw Revolution Army (YRA).
When an old 60mm bomb near a lake in Akyiban Village that had not yet detonated was touched, it exploded, causing the child nearby to be seriously injured on October 19.
“The child’s right arm was amputated. There were also serious injuries on the right side of the face and two legs. He was hardly treated from he critical condition,” said the information and reports officer of YRA, Mr. Kaung.
The mentioned 60mm bomb was a leftover from the ones that the junta soldiers fired against Akyiban, Kyi, Aung, Nyaung and Nyaung Haung villages during the second week of June.
Although the child has been saved from critical condition due to the treatment for four days, he will only be able to recover more if he is sent off to India for treatment because of his severe injuries.
Since the parents of the child are a CDMer and a farmer and it would cost millions of Myanmar kyats for the treatment, they need emergency financial assistance, according to a person close to the family.
