TANINTHARYI DIVISION – One party member of the National League for Democracy (NLD) and one local man from Minyat Village, Launglon Township were abducted by the terrorist junta force, according to the residents.
The abductees were 44-year-old Mr. Aung Kyaw Soe and 18-year-old villager Mr. Sai Thiha Kyaw. The junta soldiers reportedly entered the village with force and took them away at about 10:00 a.m. on Thursday (October 26).
Mr. Aung Kyaw Soe was said to have been beaten severely after being caught by the junta soldiers in his own house.
The junta force initially abducted a total of six people from the village, among which was a woman, and four, including the woman, were released later.
The terrorist junta force were seen heading to Dawei at about 12:00 p.m. in their cars, according to the villagers.
Mr. Aung Kyaw Soe once served as a driver for the minister Mr. Myint San of the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation during the NLD’s rule.
Minister Mr. Myint San reportedly died of cancer while fleeing in Thailand in May, 2023.
The NLD has stated on its 35th anniversary (September 27) that there have been 1,769 party members who were unlawfully abducted nationwide.
