SAGAING DIVISION – According to locals, the military council bombarded the area without a fight while the road damaged by Cyclone MoCha was being repaired in Yinmarbin Township.
A local said that the junta army carried out an aerial strike and fired twice with fighter jets when the local people were repairing Chinsat Road, south of Kapaing village, Western Yinmarbin Township, on the afternoon of May 29.
“It was shot when the villagers were clearing the road with FAWs and backhoes. It was shot twice. One of the people who was under the car was hit by a bomb, which hit his arm. A FAW was also damaged. The rest of the people were scattered and eating, so nothing happened,” he said.
For the first round, I heard about 8 shots, and 10 shots the second time, he continued. The shooting happened once at 2:00 p.m., and once at 2:15 p.m., making a total of two shots.
A 34-year-old man was hit in the arm by the bomb and was given medical treatment without any danger, he said.
Regarding the airstrikes, “I want to send a message to the people that they should not think that they are safe because there are no formations/battles in their areas. They can come and shoot at any time, so locals should be prepared in advance to avoid any danger.” District Battalion No. 36 Deputy Battalion Commander Mr.Ko Min said.
That road leads to Yinmarbin Township and the Alongtaw Kassapa and connects nearly 60 villages.
