RAKHINE STATE-In Sittwe Township, the capital of Rakhine State, where the cyclone struck, buildings such as communication towers and homes were damaged by the storm.
The storm started at noon on May 14th and attacked Sittwe City, and it was seen that the sea tide had entered the residential areas of the city en masse.
According to a person based in Yangon who has been gathering information to support relief efforts, the telephone communication with rescue teams on the ground in Sittwe has been interrupted since from evening of May 14th.
According to the latest figures from the United Nations, 1.9 million Rakhine residents will be affected by the cyclone passing through the Rakhine coast.
