SAGAING DIVISION – The local defence forces, Civilians Defence and Security Organization of Myaung (CDSOM) and Myinmu Civil Revolution Force (MCRF), reported that “In Myaung and Myinmu Townships of Sagaing Division, the crops of local farmers who were unable to harvest in time due to the speed of the Mocha storm were moved today (May 14) by the local defence forces soldiers.”
“We, Myinmu Civil Revolution Force helped the fields that were not harvested in time due to heavy rains and the fields that were flooded. May the people be safe from the storm,” said MCRF.
Ko Nwe Oo-Myaung from CDSOM said that the local defence teams helped move the people’s crops that were flooded due to the heavy and continuous rains caused by Cyclone Mocha.
Cyclone Mocha made landfall near Sittwe in Rakhine State at around 2:30 p.m. on May 14, and entered Sagaing, Mandalay and Magway Divisions a couple hours later at a wind speed of 60 miles per hour to 70 miles per hour and experts have issued warnings that there may be risks of heavy rain fall, flood and landslides.
