MYANMAR – According to the forecasting news by the Department of Meteorology and Hydrology at 5 p.m. on Sunday (May 14), cyclone Mocha continued heading west to east-west of Chin State, near Paletwa Town, after its landfall.
Cyclone Mocha, a severe cyclonic storm, currently regarded as the brown stage is passing Paletwa Town and is expected to go strong all the way to Chin, Magway, Sagaing and Mandalay Divisions within 24 hours (May 15). It is then expected to downstage as a small storm in the next 24 hours (May 16) heading towards Kachin and Northern part of Shan State, as forecast by the Meteorology Department.
The severe Cyclone Mocha at its wind speed between 50-70 mph (miles per hour) is moving out of Rakhine towards Chin State. Due to the heavy rain and strong wind, flooding, landslides and many damages are expected to happen along its way across Myanmar.
The path along which Cyclone Mocha is expected to move out of Chin State includes Paletwa, Mindat, Matupi, Hakha, Falam, Tedim and Tonzang. The strong cyclonic storm is expected to be around tweleve hours from the brocasted time (5 p.m. on May 14), according to the Meteorology Department.
