KACHIN STATE – Heavy clashes occurred near Ma Lant Yan, Waingmaw Township, on the Myitkyina-Bamaw Road on Wednesday (July 12) at 10 a.m.
“The battle occurred between Kachin Independence Army (KIA) and the junta infantry battalions – 318 and 385, which came from Myitkyina to Nant San Yan as reinforcements,” said a KIA military source.
Additionally, both sides exchanged heavy artillery shells between Aung Ja and Ma Di Yan near Nant San Yan.
Colonel Naw Bu, an official of KIA, did not respond to anything regarding that battle. Since the start of July, clashes have been occurring in the Nant San Yan Region as massive junta troops launched an offensive.
On July 11, KIA attacked the junta forces and the junta convoy, which came as reinforcements for Nant San Yan.
The junta side reportedly suffered many casualties during the battle at Nant San Yan and related regions, but the details could not be confirmed.
