KAREN STATE – On the early morning of May 13, the joint forces of terrorist junta soldiers and Border Guard Forces (BGF) carried out offensive attacks near Myawaddy Town, causing fierce fights with revolutionary forces, according to a combatant in the fights.
The fascist junta forces invaded and carried out offensive attacks along Let Khat ridge in Myawaddy Town, where the People’s Defence Forces (PDF) were on guard on May 12. And they conducted offensive attacks again on the morning of May 13, according to the combatant.
“They came up yesterday (May 12). There is Let Khat ridge near Myawaddy Town. They approached our security post through that ridge. They confronted our patrols yesterday and there was a fight, and the fighting was ongoing on the morning of May 13,” he said.
During the fights, two combatants were said to be injured by the continuous artillery fire of junta forces and BGF.
A resident said that there has been no fighting in Myawaddy Township for a few days, and now the terrorist junta council had reinforced their forces and are reinstating their offensive attacks.
“I heard that the junta suffered serious casualties during the fighting in the past few days. For that reason, they reinforced their troops. Now, the fighting is going on again, and they restarted the fights as they had reinforced with new forces. Residents have been experiencing this for many years. It is not so special anymore for us. The villages near the battle ground will be invaded and raided by the fascist junta forces and the BGF. Only the urban area suffers less of junta’s assault,” said the resident.
The murderous junta soldiers may also have been killed during the battle, but the details have yet to be confirmed. According to local residents, at least ten junta soldiers may have been injured and transported back.
On March 25, the allied forces of Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA) and People’s Defence Force (PDF) combated the atrocious junta forces stationed at Trade Zone on the Thai – Myanmar border in Myawaddy Township, and the fighting continued until the end of April.
During those battles, about 75 terrorist junta soldiers were killed, according to the report of the revolutionary forces.
During the clashes in April, the joint genocidal junta forces used excessive air strikes and artillery attacks, destroying some civilian houses and forcing locals to leave their homes and take shelter in Thailand’s territory.
