KAREN STATE – The junta council carried out more air strikes on battle-struck Letkhat Mountain on Wednesday afternoon (March 13) and battles continued to be intense at Thingangnyinaung Village, according to military news sources.
As it approaches one week since clashes began between the Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA) Brigade 6 and junta council forces in Thingangnyinaung area of Myawaddy Township, the junta jets bombed Letkhat Mountain near Myawaddy Town at around 2 p.m. on Wednesday using highly destructive bombs.
This was the second time junta jets bombed the mountain in one week. However, local sources are not yet clear about the extent of the damage.
“Letkhat Mountain was bombed. There was even fire on top of the mountain,” said the sources.
In addition, local people reported that there were intense battles near Thingangnyinaung-based junta light infantry 357 and between Thingangnyinaung and Whayeshan Villages on Wednesday morning.
In the battles happening near Myawaddy in Karen State, KNLA Brigade 6 and allied revolutionary forces have captured the junta council’s light infantry 355 base, Thingangnyinaung Police Station, and Hpalu Camp and are conducting offensives on the remaining junta bases and camps.
