KACHIN STATE – KBC issued a statement on May 3rd regarding the recapture of the former Kachin Baptist Christian Convention (KBC) president Dr. Hkalam Samson hours after the junta council released him for amnesty.
Dr. Hkalam Samson, who was unjustly arrested and sentenced to 6 years in prison by the junta council, was released on parole on April 17th, and was taken back by the junta council that night.
A KBC official said that it is known that Dr. Hkalam Samson is currently being kept at Myitkyina prison’s guest house.
“They said that they were taken for peace. But in our opinion, it is as if they were arrested him. He is not in good health, so we want him to stay at home for his health care. We have also stated our opinion on the statement,” the KBC official said.
The military council recalled Dr. Hkalam Samson on the pretext of peace talks.
Currently, Dr. Hkalam Samson is allowed to see family members during the day time.
KBC’s current adviser, Reverend Dr. Hkalam Samson, is a person who needs medical treatment due to his poor health as he gets older. KBC’s statement mentioned that the family is hoping to return home as soon as possible.
