KACHIN STATE – Lt. Gen. Gunmaw Sumlut of Kachin Independence Army (KIA) stated that 5,358,200,000 MMK seized in Lwegel Town capturing battle in Momauk Township on the China-Myanmar border, is being kept by the KIA as financial assets.
According to the Finance Department Regulation No. 64 of the Kachin Independence Organization (KIO), the money and valuables obtained during the battle must be deposited to the Finance Department. Accordingly, as per the established rules, 5,358,200,000 MMK confiscated from Lwegel Town have been registered and submitted to the Finance Department.
After the terrorist junta forces of Infantry Battalion – 142 and Non-CDM employees, people who did not join the Civil Disobedience Movement, ran away to the China territory, on April 9, KIA entered the junta bases and confiscated billions of kyats while clearing the area.
KIA has officially declared Lwegel Town as devoid of the terrorist junta army, after the terrorist junta forces of Infantry Battalion – 142 and Non-CDM personnel who remained in the Sino-Myanmar border town of Lwegel Town in Momauk Township fled into China on April 9.
Starting from March 27, KIA and Revolutionary Forces started to combat the junta bases on the Bhamo – Lwegel Road and captured the last remaining major Sein Long base on April 1. The KIA officially entered and occupied Lwegel Town on April 2.
