SHAN STATE – The 99 Mobile Phone Shop in Hopong Town was robbed by two gunmen wearing military clothes and carrying rifles and grenades on Sunday (February 25).
“At first, they inquired about the owner’s presence. When the staff informed them that the owner was not there, the gunmen asked about the location of the safe box. They then proceeded to loot two mobile phones, phone bill cards, and money,” said a resident.
The 99 mobile shop is located near the bridge on Hsihseng Road, one mile away from downtown, and usually sees a lot of customer activity.
Following the robbery, other mobile phone shops closed due to fear. Currently, the junta council soldiers and PNO militia control Hopong Town, patrolling and conducting training, but despite their presence, residents do not feel safe.
