CHIN STATE – Gunfire broke out from the junta military camp on top of Tio river hill, located in Rihkhawdhar Town, Falam Township, along the India-Myanmar border, targeting civilian vehicles traveling along the Rih-Tedim border road and injured a truck driver.
On June 12, a cargo truck leaving Rih border checkpoint towards Tedim Town was hit by the shootings, injuring the driver in his left arm. Consequently, no vehicle dared to pass by the place of shooting and many passengers were stranded.
On June 13, it was reported that a 10-wheelers that left from Rih border checkpoint was also shot down by the terrorist junta troops and had to turn back.
As of Wednesday (June 13), minibuses were reportedly safe to pass, however, cargo trucks were still reluctant to travel along that road.
Such firing at the vehicles by junta forces was known to be due to the escape of three junta soldiers from the Rihkhawdhar camp although there is no way to independently confirm.
Similarly, on June 4, two junta soldiers with a gun flew the coop but were detained by Chin National Defence Force (CNDF).
