SHAN STATE – The exchange of fire between junta council troops and junta subordinate Pyithusit militia near the Asia World Gate at Muse 105 mile in Northern Shan State is said to have resulted in the deaths of three junta troops including officers and injured two.
The incident happened at 2 p.m. on August 29 and the Pyithusit militants reportedly fired the first shot after a heated argument between the two groups.
“It was infighting,” confirmed a local who explained that the Pyithusit thugs first opened fire on the junta forces and the junta troops inside the gate returned fire.
“Only Lonhtan Pyithusit and junta forces are stationed there. Must be a fight over money, they probably disagreed on how to share,” commented a truck driver.
Initial reports said that an officer and a sergeant from junta light infantry 421 and a Pyithusit militant died and two more were injured in the shooting.
Details of the incident and follow up arrests, if any, are still under investigation.
The junta council and Ta’ang National Liberation Army (TNLA) have been engaged in fierce clashes in Muse Township on August 28 and 29.
