MANDALAY DIVISION- Residents reported that two soldiers were killed in an accidental exchange of fire in Aung Myay Tharzan Township last Thursday (August 31).
It is reported that Sergeant Cho Win and a private who were on duty at the Anhate Taw Ward office (near 19th Street and 62nd Street traffic point) intervened to mediate the fight between a couple near the Hindu temple, around 1 a.m. on August 31.
According to Voice of Mandalay, when the patrolling soldiers opened fire (at those in the fight) Sergeant Cho Win and his soldiers were hit and died on the spot.
“Junta dogs (officers) mistakenly shot each other. The two officers in civvies try to mediate a fight between a husband and wife. But the patrol car shot at them and both reportedly died on the spot. No news about the couple is received,” said a resident of Mandalay.
