KACHIN STATE – A Kachin Independence Army (KIA) source said that the KIA-led revolutionary forces attacked 12 military council camps and deployment sites in Momauk and Waingmaw Townships simultaneously, and the KIA’s offensive began officially on February 27.
“At 6 o’clock this morning (March 7), 12 army camps and military positions in Momauk and Waingmaw Townships of Kachin State were attacked simultaneously by KIA and allied forces. The fighting is fierce,” said a KIA source.
Among the 12 military council camps that were attacked by the KIA-led revolutionary alliance forces were the Shwe Nyaungpin Infantry Battalion 321 camp near Laiza, Shadan Pa Army Camp, Intat Bum military base and Inlong Kha military base.
Currently, there are some front-line reports that a camp near Laiza has been seized, but it is still being investigated to confirm. A KIA source said that it was learned that some members of the terrorist junta council were also captured alive.
“All the camps near Laiza including Bum Re Bum, Khra Bum and Phon Ban Bum are already occupied by the KIA. They have taken over the junta council army hill stations that are shelling Laiza,” said a KIA source.
