TANINTHARYI DIVISION- Commander of Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA) said that fully armed 16 members of KawThooLei Army (KTLA) collaborated with KNLA brigade 4.
The collaborated members were in a group led by Bo Al Kwee (or) Kawlar Phoe from Tanintharyi based SarKaSaw Army. They collaborated at KNLA battalion 12 , Myeik-Dawei District on September 3 and 4.
A commander of KNLA brigade 4 said that 16 members of KTLA collaborated when they were sent to battalion 12 region and had changed their uniform logo to KNLA but not yet assigned duties for them.
Both KTLA and Karen National Union (KNU) brigade 4 were unable to be contacted to enquiry about this matter.
The situation between KNU brigade 4 and KTLA was tense continuously. During the beginning of this year, there were battles and casualties at both sides.
During last July, there were exposures between them. KTLA attacked the car in which Major Saw Phoesi, leader of operation Headquarter of KNLA was riding, killing Major Saw Phoesi and one soldier.
The local Karen ethnic people and people defence forces (PDF) requested not to fight between same Karen race and instead to resolve the problems and attack the main enemy junta troops together.
KawThooLei Army (KTLA) was founded by former general Saw Naldamya of KNDO last year. The army group in Tanintharyi Division was led by Bo Alkwee (or) Kawlar Phoe.
