SHAN STATE – Myanmar National Democratic Alliance Army (MNDAA) announced on July 21 that there were casualties at junta council side in a battle between the Kokang Army and junta forces in Lashio Township, Northern Shan State.
In the afternoon of July 18, a battle broke out between the MNDAA Ethnic Brigade (611) and the junta army near Magan Village, Lashio.
It’s stated that when a column of more than 40 junta forces approached a unit of the MNDAA Brigade (611), a small unit was sent to prevent the column and the exchange of fire lasted for about 10 minutes.
MNDAA announced that during this battle, at least five members of the military council were killed or injured, and there were no casualties at MNDAA side.
The MNDAA ethnic brigade was created after the military coup and is made up of not only Kokang people but also all ethnic groups. The brigade had previous clashes with the military council in the Lashio-Theinni area.
