MYANMAR – The United States officially announced that Mr. Derek Chollet, the Counselor of the United States, and team met the National Unity Government (NUG) leaders including the Acting President and the Minister of Foreign Affairs.
Counselor of the United States Derek Chollet and Mr. Michael Schiffer from USAID met with NUG leaders and stated that the U.S is welcoming of the efforts by the NUG to implement an all-inclusive democracy.
The United States welcomes the movements to achieve democracy and promises to provide humanitarian aid to millions of civilians and support the building of regional management abilities to provide important public services.
The Counselor of the United States congratulated the ethnic groups and religious groups, including the Rohingya, who are working for democracy and efforts to build an alliance that involves everyone and stressed that it is important to have a dialogue with all stakeholders to end violence in Myanmar, to free all unjustly detained people, to end the conflicts and to return to the road to democracy for the benefit of the Myanmar people.
