BAGO DIVISION – It is reported that Hla Myint, the junta-appointed administration officer of Nga Hla San Village and Myint Htay, the hundred-household chief of Zarik Myoung Village in Min Hla Township, Bago Division, were shot dead by local defence forces at around 11:00 a.m. on June 30.
The 50-year-old administration officer of Nga Hla San Village, and the hundred-household chief of Zarik Myoung Village, were killed by PDFs on the Yangon-Pyay Road while returning to Min Hla City on a motorcycle after receiving their salary, according to the Battalion 3802 Company 3 of Thayrawaddy District.
Hla Myint replaced former administrator Tun Win, who was also previously shot and killed. He is also the one who declared in the village that he will taste the livers of the PDFs with alcohol after he became the administrator.
“Today (June 30) is their pay day, so the PDFs waited for their return and attacked. He (Hla Myint) had a hand-made gun given by the junta regime, but we didn’t have time to collect it. We did manage to confiscate the phone and money,” said an official from Battalion 3802 Company 3 of Tharayawaddy District.
It is said that Hla Myint and Myint Htay died on the spot after being shot, and a phone and 380,000 kyats in cash were confiscated.
Hla Myint was an executive member of the junta council’s USDP (Union Solidarity and Development Party) as well as a part of the junta-backed Pyu Saw Htee militia, and was also the snitch who gave out information to the military council about NLD party members and PDFs.
It is reported that Myint Htay was similarly a member of USDP, Pyu Saw Htee and also an informer for the military council.
On the night of January 29, Tun Win, the junta-appointed administrator of Kwat Ma Village in Min Hla Township, was shot and killed at a gambling spot in Nga Hla San Village.
