SAGAING DIVISION – Locals said that the junta drones bombing Lalkine Village in Wetlet Township injured three civilians and the residents had to flee.
Junta drones dropped two 40mm grenades on the village school around 12:30 p.m. on Thursday (August 17) but the grenades landed on the house behind the school, damaging the building and injuring two women and a man.
The victims are said to be a 32 year old and a 50 year old woman and a 34 year old man. “All three are receiving treatment,” said Kyar Bayin of GZ Special Task Force.
He added that the junta possibly targeted the Lalkine Village School after hearing of the arrival of IDPs from Hanlin Village and the presence of PDF.
The junta column that carries out the attack is said to have left Ngapioh Village in Shwebo Township on August 16 morning and invaded Hanlin Village that evening. It then departed from Hanlin Village on August 17 noon and sent drones to bomb Lalkine Village.
Moreover, the same junta column fired 60 mm mortars into Lalkine Village around 2 p.m., forcing the residents to flee.
