KAREN STATE – A resident of Ayeyarwaddy Division, a poet and a revolutionary soldier who has won first prize in a peace theme poem writing competition is said to have fallen in a battle in Karen State.
The All Burma Federation of Students’ Unions (ABFSU) announced that Comrade Japan Gyi (aka) Mr. Aung Khant Zaw, a former member of the 2012-15 ABFSU Generation, Pathein District Students’ Union (ABFSU) and Pathein Technological Students’ Union (ABFSU), has fallen on March 22 while fighting against the junta dictatorship and serving the people.
“Mr. Aung Khant Zaw was a former ABFSU comrade who has served from 2012 to 2015. He was said to have fallen in battle in Karen State after getting hit in the neck,” said a member of the ABFSU Central Campaign Committee.
Comrade Aung Khant Zaw was 30 years old at the time of his death and he has also won first prize in the peace poem competition hosted by Pen Myanmar, according to people close to him.
“Aung Khant Zaw, a revolutionary and a poet, who was expected to become an important leader for Ayeyarwaddy Division in the future has nobly fallen in battle while serving for the Spring Revolution on March 22. We salute him,” NUG Ambassador for Czech Republic Mr. Lin Thant posted on his social media.
ABFSU also vowed to keep the memory of ABFSU comrade Aung Khant Zaw (aka) Japan Gyi alive and to fight together with the oppressed people till completing the unfinished duties of the comrade to eradicate military dictatorship and to free all oppressed people.
