MON STATE – Kyaikhto Revolution Force (KRF) stated that the Karen border guard force’s (BGF) Captain Win Soe and his wife, were reportedly killed in the ambush in Kyaikhto Township, on Thursday (August 24) and 2 guns and related items (artilleries) were seized.
At around 7:30 a.m. on August 24, a white Mark 2 vehicle driven by Captain Win Soe and his wife was shot and attacked by the People’s Defense Force between Kawhtin and Boyagyi villages. The car was hit by the gunfire, drove off the main road, and crashed. The two occupants of the vehicle died on the spot. Two guns, a mobile phone, a BGF Identity Card, a National Registration Card, and a driver’s license were confiscated.
It is said that the joint forces of the Kyaikhto Revolutionary Forces – KRF and People’s Defense Forces (Waw Township) carried out the attack and were able to retreat without harm.
The deceased, Captain Win Soe of the BGF unit hosted gambling houses in Kyaikhto Township and reported to the junta police himself (to extort from the gamblers). Moreover, he was responsible for the illegal car smuggling business in town and the death of a young man, who was shot and killed at the funeral home in the Southern Ward of Kyaikhto. In addition, he arbitrarily confiscated 300 acres of farmland in cooperation with the Township Farm Land Allocation Committee, and also reportedly threatened the locals to purchase agricultural land at a low price. He also ordered to cut off power supply in the villages and collect electricity bills for the terrorist army. He also arrested, beat, and tortured locals at gunpoint, Spy on political activists, and informed them to the junta (to make arrests).
