KARENNI STATE – An official from BPDF Loikaw said on July 31 that the People Defence Forces intercepted junta’s convoy coming to Loikaw Township as reinforcement near Taungkham village, Shan-Karenni border. 2 military vehicles were damaged and many soldiers were killed.
He said that the military council has sent more than 6 military vehicles to Loikaw and the PDF attacked around 4:00 p.m. on July 30.
“PDF intercepted around 4:00 p.m. and there were shooting from both sides. 2 DC cars were destroyed. There will be a lot of deaths at junta side,” he explained.
He said that at least 6 military vehicles were attacked along the Pyi Htaung Su Road. Due to the weak communication between them, it is not yet known where the military vehicles came from, and the exact strength of junta troops.
It is said that after the battle, the military convoy entered Loikaw with around 100 military council soldiers.
During this attack, 2 PDF comrades were injured by a bullet in the leg and the injury was not serious, according to a BPDF official.
The details of casualties at junta side during the Taungkham battle are still being verified and will be confirmed by the relevant groups involved.
