CHIN STATE – A local said that there were battles between Chin Defense Force (CDF) and junta forces at Mindat Township on Sunday (July 30) evening and there were casualties on the junta side, including the Police Lieutenant Colonel of Mindat who was seriously injured.
Mindat CDF released that there was a battle at the four mile hill near the junta infantry battalion 274 base in Mindat Township on July 30 morning and CDF Mindat comrades attacked a junta patrol vehicle at Ashaypyin Ward, Mindat Township in the evening. In the battles, four soldiers from the junta council died and many were injured.
There were reportedly four seriously injured including Police Lieutenant Colonel Aung Myat Thu.
The news source of Mindat region said that the potty-mouthed Police Lieutenant Colonel Aung Myat Thu and soldiers were injured and were receiving treatment at Mindat General Hospital. The Lieutenant Colonel was seriously injured in his eye and one side of his chin and many senior officers from the military are said to have visited him with full security.
On Monday (July 31) morning, many junta forces are said to have come down to the Forest office in Ashaypyin Ward, which was the site of the battle, and the junta troops recklessly opened fire into the houses, injuring a woman in the leg.
It is assumed that the junta forces brought back their patrol vehicle which was damaged in battle on Sunday. The sources said that there are photographic records of the damaged patrol vehicle but they haven’t been sent yet.
The local news source said regarding the injured Police Lieutenant Colonel that “there is still the Colonel, the most senior officer in the police (here).”
