KARENNI STATE – Mr. David Eubank, the founder of the free Burma Ranger (FBR) who is supporting the internally displaced people, said that Starlink internet by Elon Musk is available for use in Karenni (Kayah) State.
He tweeted on twitter, thanking the billionaire and his company for helping to access Starlink Internet in Karenni State.
“I am really thankful to Starlink, Elon Musk, the colleagues and the family. The more we love each other, the more we love our family. We love you. If I was asked why, it is because you created this. We are in Myanmar where the intense civil war has been ongoing for about 73 years. After the coup, the situation became much worse and about 3 million people are fleeing daily for their lives. In this Karenni State, there are 300,000 people who have been fleeing for their lives. Some villages have been launched with airstrikes. We are here to help the internally displaced people,” said Mr. David Eubank from one of the displaced camps in Karenni State.
Mr. David Eubank also showed his appreciation for making Starlink available in Karenni State and prayed for more internet access and prayed that may God bless Mr. Musk.
“Here where most of the villages have been attacked by junta airstrikes, we are together with the displaced people. Now we received the help. Thank you so much. May God bless you,” said Mr. Eubank.
Starlink Internet owned by American billionaire and the richest man in the world, Elon Musk is a satellite internet service provider of an American spacecraft manufacturer, launcher, and satellite communications company SpaceX, whose service is used by over 50 countries.
The responsible person of the Karenni State Consultative Council (KSCC) said that starlink internet can be accessed but there are still many restrictions.
Since the coup, the junta’s council has been applying the four cuts systems in the regions where the revolutionary forces are powerful. In those regions, the mobile connection and internet connection have been cut.
The junta council has cut the telephone and internet networks in most places of Karenni State for over two years. FBR is the organization which provides aid to the internally displaced people from Karenni state.
“Just like how starlink can be used in Karenni State, I wish it is applicable also in upper Myanmar. Now starlink is accessible in Karenni State which can be seen as a possible access for upper Myanmar too,” said one of the members of People’s Defence Force.
Mr. Htin Lin Aung, the minister of the communication, Information and Technology, National Unity Government, had requested Musk for access to the Starlink internet in 2022 as the junta council has been cutting the mobile phone and internet connections for their own sake in Myanmar.
