SAGAING DIVISION – According to residents, the junta council has been more active in Kalay Town. Between 9 p.m. and 10 p.m. on Thursday (June 15), junta troops fired heavy artillery shells recklessly at the southern part of Kalay Town.
“We heard artillery shells being fired around six or seven times. It seems they targeted the southern part of Kalay. We don’t have precise information about the casualties or damages,” said a resident.
Kalay residents fear the increasing frequency of heavy artillery shell attacks by the junta council in downtown Kalay.
“The situation has worsened recently, and they have tightened inspections. They opened fire without asking any questions when they saw two boys on a motorcycle. They also inspect motorcycles and mobile phones. If they don’t find anything, they check the motorcycle licenses. If the drivers don’t have one, they extort 30,000 MMK to 60,000 MMK,” said a Kalay resident.
The junta also removed the bunker in front of Nay Kyar Building in Tarhan and increased the barriers on the upper side of Tarhan Traffic Lights. On Friday (June 16), the junta council soldiers fired heavy artillery shells nine times between 11 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.
