SOUTH KOREA- The National Unity Government (NUG)’s Myanmar Representative Office in South Korea has been selected and awarded the Public Benefit Award by the Seoul-based Ikcheon Culture Foundation.
The Ikcheon Cultural Foundation selects and awards public benefit organizations that actively work together with the public to build an improving livelihood in the community.
This year, unlike the previous years, no Korean social organizations were selected but the representative office of the NUG government in Korea which is actively working for Myanmar’s democracy was selected.
NUG’s Myanmar representative in Korea, Mr. Yan Naing Tun, said, “I am very happy to be selected and awarded like this. We are honored and proud to have such recognition and acceptance of Myanmar’s democratic movements. It’s a kind of encouragement for us.”
The prize for the award is 3 million won, which is equivalent to more than 6 million MMK. The awarding ceremony will be held on December 9 at the Ikcheon Cultural Foundation in Seoul.
South Korea has been a country that constantly supports Myanmar’s democracy and anti-military movements.
