MON STATE- It is reported that the roads were closed down and traffic jammed for almost an hour due to clashes between the army and revolutionary forces near the Muppalin intersection, Kyaikhto Township.
On May 1, from 7:45 a.m. to 8:40 a.m., the roads were closed and traffic stopped for almost an hour due to fighting near the Muppalin intersection. After that, at around 9 a.m., no more gunshots were heard and the roads were reopened.
“There was a battle at Muppalin near Sittaung Bridge, and the traffic was blocked. The road block was at the intersection of Muppalin. All cars could not travel around 7:45 a.m. The sounds of shooting were also heard. When we heard gunshots, the roads were blocked and cars could not pass through,” explained a traveler.
At the time of the fighting, the police and soldiers from the Muppalin Road intersection checkpoints were missing and were in hiding. Those soldiers and police came out of hiding only when the gunshots stopped.
