BAGO DIVISION – Residents said that two men, grandfather and grandson who fled the war from Lapat Village, were shot and killed while returning home.
On October 21 at noon, the villagers found Mr. Win Shwe (65) and his grandson Mr. Sai Sai (18) dead from gunshot wounds near Lapat Village and Tonebo Village.
A resident said, “Since the living is hard fleeing the war, they went back home to get the necessary documents for the grandson to get a job in Thailand. The place where they were shot was desolate. We didn’t witness who shot them but the military council column usually passes the area in cars.”
The villagers buried the deceased bodies in the Lapat village cemetery on the same day as they were found.
The military council column frequently enters the villages in Kyaukgyi Township and arrests young and middle-aged men, thus the men are fleeing the place.
Last May 3, in Kyaukgyi Township, Takhon Tai Village, Mr. Saw Lay Lu Htoo (23) returning home from work was shot dead by the military council troops.
