KARENNI STATE – Health care providers said that both children and adults are suffering from seasonal flu, and there are difficulties in purchasing medicine in the refugee camps in the western part of Hpruso Township.
More than 50,000 people live in five refugee camps in the western part of Hpruso Township, and refugees have been suffering from seasonal flu since July, said a healthcare provider for refugees.
“Most of the refugees are suffering from seasonal flu. There are hospitals and clinics, so they get enough treatment.”
Healthcare providers said that some of the children who fled the war are also suffering from dengue hemorrhagic fever, and the conditions are under control.
There are difficulties in transporting food and medicine because the military council army has limited the transportation of food and medicine into the Karenni state, and the self-owned charitable associations also have financial needs to buy medicine.
The refugees in the western part of Hpruso Township suffer from colds and flu, diarrhea, and skin-related diseases in addition to the seasonal flu.
