MANDALAY DIVISION – The Monywa-Mandalay Highway has been temporarily closed due to the activities of the junta council, and civilians have been warned against traveling in the area by the area defense forces (PDF).
On the morning of July 5th, the Myinmu based Ghose Team Ranger-MMU issued an announcement regarding the closure and emphasized that the safety of individuals who did not comply with the travel ban could not be guaranteed.
According to the Area 71 People’s Defense Force, the junta column and its soldiers have heavily occupied the Monywa-Chaung-U area, which is part of the Monywa-Mandalay Highway. Witnesses have observed multiple cannons with movable wheels being transported on vehicles, moving southward from the north of Monywa.
Residents have reported that these activities are taking place in Chaung-U, with loud noises being heard from Monywa. Additionally, soldiers have been launching heavy weapons from the Ma-ubin Gate and the Monywa entrance area.
Due to these activities, MPT telephone lines have been disconnected in Monywa City.
