KACHIN STATE – Military sources reported that there were junta casualties when the Kachin Independence Army (KIA) attacked and captured the junta base at Salzin Village in Hpakant Township on April 23.
KIA joint forces launched an offensive on Junta Light Infantry Battalion (LIB) 116, the last remaining junta base in Selzin, on April 20 and successfully captured it three days later.
“A camp of the junta council and SNA (junta subordinate Shan Ni Army militia) at Selzin Village was captured, last night (April 23) around 11 p.m. There were over 30 junta and SNA forces killed,” said the military source.
Although it was informed that the revolutionary forces also managed to seize several weapons and ammunition, they didn’t share the details.
KIA recently attacked the junta police station at Selzin and 22 junta policemen surrendered during that attack.
KIA has captured a large number of junta camps in Hpakant during this year and has seized control of most areas and major roads in the township.
