KAREN STATE – Over 60 battles took place in Kaw Thoo Lei territory of the Karen National Union (KNU) in July, during which more than 90 junta soldiers, including officers, were killed, stated KNU Central.
Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA), Karen National Defence Organization (KNDO), and joint columns under their leadership clashed against the junta council troops for a total of 66 counts, and 95 junta soldiers, including a captain and two company commanders, were killed, while 89 junta soldiers, including one major, five captains, and one company commander, were injured.
Three revolutionary comrades also fell in battle, while 26 were injured. Furthermore, three local civilians were killed and one was injured.
During July, a junta mi-35 gunship from the junta south east command in Mawlamyein carried out six airstrikes in KNU Brigade 6 Dupalaryar District that damaged seven civilian homes. Moreover, there were over 50 junta shellings targeting the villages that wounded nine residents, including two children, and one of them passed away.
In addition, one monastery, six houses, a car, and three motorcycles belonging to civilians were damaged, and 17 cattle were also killed.
The junta council also planted landmines along the roads and near the villages, and three young women were injured in a mine blast after triggering one of them.
