MANDALAY DIVISION – An official from the anti-militia group in Nyang-U District said that a person leading to form the militia group to fight for junta council was shot and killed in Lethtoke Village of Nyaung-U Township.
The mentioned person, Than Naing (46) was organising to form militia group in Lethtoke Village and also threatened the villagers to pay 2 million Kyats if they did not want to join the group and fight for junta council. He was shot 6 times and died on the spot at about 8 a.m. on January 25.
“Recently, in our township, people are being forced to join militia groups. And if we can’t provide manpower, we are threatened and forced to pay 2 million kyats. He is the main one who was leading to form the militia group so we have to clear him,” said the person in charge of the anti-militia group in Nyaung-U District.
The anti-militia group which has been fighting to root out the militia groups declared that they will continue to attack the main junta’s lackey administration officials and Pyu Saw Htee in Nyaung-U District who are forcing the civilians to join militia groups.
